We are delighted that you are considering St James and St John's for your child. To take things further, please read our admissions policy, complete the application form and bring it to the school office.

You will find the admissions policy and application form in the policies section of this website (please see link below).

If you are applying for a Reception class place for September, you will need to fill in both the St James and St John's application form AND a Local Authority application form.

The Local Authority application form is available on www.eadmissions.org.uk.

St James & St. John is a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School providing education for children aged between 3 and 11 years. Our Early Years Unit consists of a Nursery Class and a Reception Class teaching children from 3 to 5 years of age. In the Main School, we teach Year 1 to Year 6 children until admission into a secondary school.

Parish Boundaries

A common question with regard to the admission process is about the boundaries of the parish. Details of the parish boundary for St. James’s Church, Sussex Gardens and St. John’s Hyde Park can be found on the website of the Church of England.

School Uniform

School uniform is compulsory at our school. All children must wear the school uniform, as agreed by parents in the Home-School Agreement when their child joins our school.

Wearing our school uniform helps children to feel a sense of identity and belonging to our school community.

All of the uniform items listed below are required.

Most school uniform items are available to buy from a company called Stitch Design. We have chosen Stitch Design as our school uniform provider because the items are of good quality and are reasonably priced. You can find the link to the uniform shop by Stitch Design here

Some items of school uniform may be available second hand from the school office. Please pop in to the office to ask about pre-loved uniform.

Please ensure that pupils with pierced ears wear only studs to school. Any other piercing is not permitted e.g. nose and eyebrow. Hair that is shoulder length or longer needs to be tied back or secured with an alice band. Small hair bands, scrunchies and slides should be red, grey or black.

Please do not send your child to school with extreme hair fashions, including dyed hair, closely shaven hair or images or shapes cut into the hair.
